Willard Carroll Smith II is an award-winning actor, rapper, and producer who has transitioned between music and film. Born in Philadelphia in 1968, Smith first found success in the 1980s as a Grammy-winning rapper with DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. His nickname in high school was "Prince Charming", which he adapted to "Fresh Prince" for his music career. In the 1990s, Smith's acting career took off with the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990–1996).
